Hi Mrs. Hamilton!!!! You sound like you are having a great time. Ukraine was occupied by Germany in WWII. The Great Famine was Joseph Stalin's policy of collectivization to finance industrialazaion, which resulted in a disastrous effect on Ukraine Agriculture. The death toll during this horrid famine was a an awful 6-7 million deaths.
ReplyDeleteLee (per 7) Was the Ukraine occupied by Germany during WWII? No, they were still part of Russia.
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs.Hamilton I hope you are having a nice time on you trip. I wanted to ask you a question. Do they have electric cars there and do they still use nuclear reactors there after the accident they had in Chernobyl.
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs. Hamilton, it's David Carvajal. The Ukraine was occupied by Germany along with other countries. The Great Famine (also known as the Holodomor) was Joseph Stalin's way of killing off a bunch of the Ukrainians. (I learned this in Mrs.alt's class.) 6-8 million people have died from this famine. I remember a quote that I read in Mrs.Alt's class where a woman said that when the soldiers collected all of their food, her dad asked if they couold keep some and they threatened to wrap his guts around the telephone wire. Yuck!
